The Oresteia is a production that is at the same time very close to the original and radically contemporary. It is a production actively co-created by the actors, making Aeschylus sound actual and timeless. At the same time, this performance follows the ancient principle of staging tragedy, whereby one actor played several characters.
Written in a grand style, rich in diction and dramatic dialogue, the plays embody Aeschylus' concerns with the destiny and fate of individuals as well as the state, all played out under the watchful eye of the gods.
